I just signed up as a member of this site. I wanted to introduce myself and offer some things I've found true that can solve some common problems Boomers share. I'm sure I can learn a lot from you all, also.

My major interest is health, especially how to stay healthy without diets, drugs, and medical intervention. I just turned 63 and I've managed to stay at roughly the weight I was in college. I'm not on any prescriptions and I feel great.

I have mostly been self-employed, but I also spent some time consulting for the U.S. Department of Commerce and the local Chamber of Commerce, looking for ways to re-employ an isolated, beautiful community after their major employer left town. That taught me some interesting lessons about finding some new employment for the general population.

Lately, I've been developing a new career on the Internet as a writer, trying to contribute some insights I gained that I haven't seen elsewhere. This is an exciting time to be alive, so I'm looking forward to hear what others in this forum have learned.

Just a quick into of myself. I'm Peg, and live in Oklahoma, and am very happy to have found an ACTIVE forum of Boomers. I have been writing (for what ever reason ? ! ? ) a lot of articles and notes on concerns of Baby Boomers lately. I think a lot of the issues have shifted and changed with the political and social climate as it is, and am really enjoying reading all of your comments so far. Look forward to making some Boomer friends on this site. (By the way, in Oklahoma when you say "Boomer", someone will always answer, "Sooners")

Hi Joe,

I just drop by to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Aris Tanone and I'd like to thank Joe for allowing my posts to be listed in Blog Carnival.

Long time ago, when I was a little kid, I thought, someone was very old if s/he was in his/her 60th. Now, I'm one year away and I still could finish running the 5K-run while one year or so ago I was a couch potato. The only think I could say is, thanks God I'm here now.

That's all for now and I will visit this forum from time to time.

Thanks,

Everyone know they show eat a healthy diet and exercise to keep the body and mind in good condition. But let's face it, some of us just don't do it. In fact some individuals get so obese it starts causing them some life threatening medical problems. If this is the case, then it may be time to talk to a doctor about a gastric bypass surgery operation. However, there are mental and physical requirements that must be met. For anyone interested here is an excellent article on the subject.

The new iPad coming out Saturday and please read more info so you can help me!?
I am seriously considering an iPad, I would use it as my computer. I researched some and saw that there will be a word program available and a wireless keyboard too. Regarding my camera there will be something that you can connect your camera straight up to the actual iPad. Those are resolved problems regarding the iPad being different. Other than the CD/DVD drive is there anything else it will not do that a computer does???

The line up of Las Vegas shows includes entertainment from all over the world. Many of the shows are tributes to famous artists such as Michael Jackson, The Jersey Boys and Elvis. One man who stands alone does a tribute to a favorite comedian amongst the baby boomers; his tribute is to Red Skelton.

People traveling to Las Vegas find that the list of shows is practically endless. Regardless of your taste in entertainment, Vegas has what you are looking for. When people think of Las Vegas Shows the usual showgirl shows come to mind, like Donn Arden’s Jubilee at Bally’s and X Burlesque at the Flamingo.

Most of the entertainment in Las Vegas starts after 6pm and goes on through out the night. Shows in Las Vegas can be found in almost all of the Las Vegas Hotels located along the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Strip isn’t the only area where entertainment can be found.

So what are the best shows in Las Vegas? That depends on your taste in Las Vegas Shows. Some shows in Las Vegas claim to be the best because of their time slot. George Wallace claims to have the best 10pm show in Las Vegas.

There is no doubt that many of the Las Vegas Shows are not suitable for children. So when it comes to family entertainment in Las Vegas, the list of shows tend to dwindle. Which Las Vegas shows are suitable for children? That depends upon your discretion. Some of the more family friendly shows include Mac King in Harrah’s, Nathon Burton in the Flamingo and Superstars of Magic performing in Gameworks on Las Vegas Blvd near MGM Grand.

One Las Vegas Comedy show has a G rating. This Las Vegas comedy show is suitable for the entire family. The Las Vegas comedy show is also a tribute to a legendary comedian, and that comedian is Red Skelton. This tribute to Red Skelton is entering its third year in Las Vegas and has quickly become the show to see when in Las Vegas.

This Las Vegas Show is now performing Monday and Tuesday at 2pm in The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel Casino and Spa. When in Las Vegas make sure to set aside time for this spectacular tribute to Red Skelton. Need more info? Like most here I guess, I can't believe that the years have gone by so quickly. Seems like yesterday I was front and center at the Allman Bros. concert in Detroit. Now the kids are grown and gone and My wife and I are looking toward the next stage in life.
That's all for now. Looking forward to getting to know some folks here.

I write about it on two blogs (Baby Boomers Traveling & This ExPat Life) as well as provide daily travel tips on my website http://www.babyboomerstraveling.com -- all of which is available by free subscription or you can just visit the website whenever you feel like it.

I'm also writing a book to inspire (turn on) boomers to do more traveling and give them the resources (tune in) to do it more often and for cheaper.

If our Grand Poobah of Baby Boomers U.S. allows, I'd like to provide you with a snippet of my weekly traveling blog and links so that readers of this fine pub can be inspired to travel to more place, more often and for cheaper.

Hey Everyone, I am new here.
I am actually trying to connect with other seniors, who are interested in finding businesses which offer seniors dicounts. I started a little website for seniors to find everything they need, but I need to build content! If you know of any special services, things to do, dicounts or anything else related to making senior life better in your area, than please tell them about this website. It may help someone out!

The Olympic Men's Hockey tournament is about to start.

I suspect it will be one of the highlights of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. We are a hockey crazy city here.

As the tournament is about to begin, I cannot help but remember perhaps one of the greatest speeches given by any coach in any sport at any time. The speech was delivered by the late Herb Brooks.

For those of you who have forgotten, Herb Brooks coached the 1980 U.S. Men's Olympic Hockey Team at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics. Going into the tournament, the U.S. team was not expected to do well. Once the tournament was over, they had won the Gold Medal.

They didn't win because they had the most skill. They won because they had the most heart. They had the most desire. They had the most determination. They had the most motivation. Far more than anyone else. It made the difference.

In the attached URL, Kurt Russell plays Herb Brooks in the movie "Miracle". I think it represents what the spirit of the Olympics is all about - the pursuit of excellence. Just copy and paste the URL into your browser. Here is the URL - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwpTj_Z9v-c

The reason I post this is two-fold. First, it was a great speech at a great moment. Second, each and every one of us should take that motivation and put it work. Make that motivation help you to achieve your fitness and health goals. It will never be easy. Everyday at the gym will not be a cake walk. However, use that motivation to achieve your goals. This is your time.

I'm a kindred Baby Boomer, a retired school teacher, and a writer/published author. My women's fiction novel--Chick Lit for Discerning Women-- Underlying Notes, first published in 2007, was re-launched Dec. '09. I write ezine articles pertaining to my native state of Rhode Island. I write weekly articles for a popular Sixties site where I have my own profile page. Sure, I'm chomping at the bit to provide more details about my novel, but I don't want to give the impression that I'm here to grandstand or appear a spammer.

I'm a fragrance aficionado as well as an exercise enthusiast.

Hi
Can anyone give me names of pushchairs buggies which will fit into small hatchback (polo).
Budget dictates that i’ll be buying a 2nd hand buggy so names of any older models would be great. Preferably suitable from birth
I know the quinny buzz seems to fold very small but even 2nd hand ones of these are quite expensive

I am stalling while cleaning the house, writing for my own blog, and trying to run out of time before I have to apply myself to 'homework'. I just started back to school to finish my BA after thirty years. I will have it by the end of the year. At various times I've tried to finish it, and even tried to circumvent the system and get my Master's. After all, said I, I have four years--I just left without taking the final finals. No luck. In the meantime, I am awaiting the advent of cool weather here near the devil's tailbone. By next Wednesday temperatures will drop, making field work for the census and the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more pleasant. I was just beginning to enjoy a little hard-earned unemployment, too.

Hi! My name is Rich...

I have an amazing and inspiring success story, about a British Baby Boomer to share.

But first let me inform you of this...

I'm currently trying to network with baby boomers.
I myself am not a Baby Boomer.
I'm actually 37. I currently live in The Sunshine & Hurricane State of Florida.

The reason I am trying to reach out Baby Boomers is because of the current economic situation which despite what the genius in Washington & Wall Street say is not getting better. I pay attention to the markets and I would not trust those fools for a second.

Anyways... The organization that I work with is growing and we are trying to tap as many markets as possible with our products.

What we offer is alternative incomes... and in depth financial education so that you can invest money with supreme confidence!!!

We are currently marketing a year old Portable Business System which gives you the opportunity to 11 sources of income. That's correct 11 streams of income from one item.

We are currently offering this product in 107 countries and sales are picking up despite the economic slump. We hope to go public in about 2 maybe 3 years.

Please take a look at this short video testimonial from a not so young 53 Year Old British Grand Mother who lost her job, was in desperate straights and used this product to not only replace her lost income, but earn significantly more than what she had been earning previously. She has done so well that she earned an award from our company for setting a record in generating income... She made $250,000 in her very first year... With absolutely no previous experience at all. That is simply amazing...

Follow the link to meet Ann: http://sn.im/grann4

Please get in touch with me if you have any questions.
It does look like this forum is a bit unpopulated right now but, I am on mission which I will not go into details about here...

Thank you Joe

Rich
